Grip you can roll on yourself
SparkleTuff is a two-part clear coating loaded with fine aluminum-oxide grit, the same family of material used on industrial anti-slip surfaces. You clean the floor, let it dry, and roll it on like paint. Once it cures, the floor keeps its color and finish and gains traction; on substrates tested wet with the pendulum, SparkleTuff raised readings into the low-slip-potential range, though results depend on the substrate, application and upkeep.

The DIY option we actually trust
Most anti-slip products we run into do one of two things: wear off in a season, or eat into the floor with acid. SparkleTuff does neither. It sits on top of the surface and adds grip, instead of etching the floor to fake it, and the grit is hard enough to take real wear. For a bathroom, a pool deck, a ramp, or a walk-in cooler where you would rather not schedule a crew, it is a fix you can knock out in an afternoon.

The pendulum numbers below are SparkleTuff’s own published test results. We are listing them the way the manufacturer reports them; we have not independently tested every batch.

Those wet readings sit well inside what the trade calls high-traction. SparkleTuff describes the standard dry surface as about as grippy as an NBA basketball floor, and the Lite Bite version as gentler underfoot for retail and home use, where bare feet and shuffling matter more than maximum bite.

How you apply it
- Clean and dry the floor. Get it free of dirt, grease and soap film, then let it dry. No acid, no etching.
- Mix the two parts. Combine the kit as directed and stir so the grit is evenly suspended.
- Roll it on. Lay down an even coat with a roller, working it back and forth so the grit spreads evenly.
- Let it cure. Give it time to harden before foot traffic. After that, clean it with plain water and a soft brush or squeegee.

Common questions
Will it be too rough for bare feet or older folks?
The standard grit is aggressive, which is what you want in a wet, high-risk area. For homes, retail, and anywhere bare feet or shuffling steps are common, SparkleTuff makes a Lite Bite version with less grit. They describe it as having less bite than a thin rug while still adding real traction.
Do I have to etch or prime the floor first?
No, and that is the whole appeal. Clean it, dry it, roll it on. No acid, no primer.
How long does it last?
SparkleTuff reports a decade or more in most settings, including pool decks and commercial floors. Real-world wear depends on traffic and how it is cleaned.
Is it slippery when it gets wet?
It is built to hold its grip when wet, which is the entire point. Their published wet numbers are high-traction, and the coating is made for pool decks, showers, and wash-down areas.
Can I still see my floor?
Yes. It dries clear and keeps the color and finish underneath. A satin option is there if you want less shine.
